Evening program

KIJ’09 offers a program that we hope compliments the daytime activities. The evening events and activities will be less intense, and following the ethos of the camp, you will have the opportunity to move freely and experience different things whilst remaining safe amongst your Scouting friends.

Ceremonies

As expected at major Jamborees we will officially open and close KIJ’09.

At the close we will have a procession and each Group attending is invited to create a carnival style parade themed around their Sub Camp. So invent on the day or come prepared, the choice is yours…… the fun of participation is for all.

Plaza

Here you will find an area each evening to sit and talk with friends, enjoy the snack bar (fast food available for purchase), play games, swap badgers or take a view of the arena and staged events.

International Café

Throughout the camp the café will continue to sell a selection of refreshments into the evening. You will also find live music and entertainment at this venue – a great place just to chill.

Sub Camp Showcases

Each Sub Camp will hold a Sub Camp day. In the early evening the Sub Camp will attend the arena for its very own showcase. The Program Team at KIJ will offer help and support to Groups and individuals who want to take part – offering rehearsal time, performance guidance and production (this will be coordinated through the stage management team and the Sub Camp Leaders).

It is anticipated that the showcase will last about 1.5 hours. All the acts are invited from the Sub Camp and can be based around music, dance, drama, singing or other mediums at the discretion of the production team. The acts should share the values and vibrancy of the many cultures attending KIJ with inspiration drawn from countries or regions from where Groups are based.

If you already have a Showtime act and would like to book a spot please email your details to the Activity Team through the web site links (don’t forget to state your Sub Camp name).

We hope that towards the end of your Sub Camp Showcase other participants will join you to see the end of your show. Everyone will then be in place to continue, if they wish, the entertainment for the evening from the main stage.

Gang Show

On the penultimate evening and just after the Knowledge Showcase, KIJ’09 will host its very own Gang Show. We are now looking for those talent buddies who will create this wonderful night of entertainment. Whether a Group or individual whether its dance, music, sketches or songs – we want you to come forward.

Please get in touch with the Activities Team, talk to your Sub Camp Leaders or find us during the camp.

The Bath Gang Show Team will be attending KIJ09 to help produce the show. During the week you will have the chance through the dance and drama workshops to rehearse and/or create your act.

So if you fancy some lights and action then this is the gig for you!

Arena

Each evening after the Showcases there will be entertainment from the stage. Depending on the weather we will hold disco’s or run a film.

Camp Fires

No camp would be complete without a little fire, joining with friends, singing and generally taking some medicine of fun and laughter. Each Sub Camp will be holding its own camp fire so look out for details.

Adult Hub

There is an area set aside for Leaders and Network members (over the age of 18) who wish to relax together informally to meet old friends and make new.

The hub will have a licensed bar with a restricted sales policy. Each night offers a selection of entertainment that will include quizzes and live music.
