Wednesday 29th July 2009
9:00am: We're wearing our 'Wateeeerrrprooofs!' 10:18am: Waiting for vital birthday list after team meeting :) 10:32am: The mysterious missing marquee has finally arrived! 1:30pm: Marquee is finally built! Realised it's too small, need another one. More we shall wait. 2:30pm: The computers are in and we have lots of colourful mousemats. 2:57pm: KIJ Media Team go to lunch. 4:19pm: Finishing off filming, Pulse and various other jobs. All hands on deck. :) 4:59pm: First participants arrive from Nigeria. 5:53pm: Jimbo Jambo Giraffe comes back from his tour of Tolerance and Knowledge. 7:08pm: Its raining but spirits are still high and the BBQ is on! 7:25pm: Jimbo Jambo the giraffe says join Kentscout on facebook!!!! He is!! 10:07pm: The media team are printing the first 1000 issues of Pulse! (Have been doing so for a few hours now..) Thursday 30th July 2009 8:15am: Early start, everyone up and working. 11:37am: Many participants have arrived. 12:57pm: The sunshine has gone and the rain has arrived nooo!!! never mind we still continue to smile and set up camp 2:55pm: Happy Birthday Heather!!! Sun has come out and the roof is steaming. Pulse writing is in full swing.
4:52pm: Rehersals are taking place for the opening ceremony tonight, keep a look out on the opening ceremony gallery. 7:30pm: Everyone troops down to the opening ceremony to see 'The Run Out' performing before KIJ officially opens. 10:45pm: Panic has settled after we regained power to finish completing tomorrow's edition of 'Pulse'. It's pretty much finished. We are all so very proud. Again. 1:30am: Pulse has been printing nicely for a few hours, time for a few hours sleep before we get it out to everyone! 2:30am: Made it back..oops...really will go to bed now! Friday 31st July 2009 10:58am: Morning 'jounalists' have just got back from activities field. 3rd issue of pulse coming together. Listening to repeat of yesterdays BBC Radio Kent piece on us. http://bbc.co.uk/iplayer 1:38pm: Media team have just finished lunch and are now refueled ready for an afternoon of filming, podcasting and editing. 2:15pm: Just sent a few of the media team off to have a go at microlighting while the sun is shining. More editing for the rest of us!! 5:40pm: Those on a day trip have arrived back to camp and so the camp is buzzing once more. They all seem to have had a great time and like most scouts can't wait for dinner. 8:10pm: Most explorers, including many of the media team, are down in the explorer zone, enjoying dressing 'up' in bin bags (for Bond night) 10:23pm: Pulse team back from Bond Night, enjoyed the dancing and discos. Writing final articles for tomorrows issue. Saturday 1st August 2009 8:20am: Many of the media team are having breakfast. Coaches for day trips have left with many excited participants on board. 12:00pm: After a morning of technical problems the media hub is once again buzzing. Participants on site have been busy on their sub camp day, or down on the activities field. 3:35pm: Having a really busy day, the participants who went offsite yesterday are now working on their Global Explorer Award. Some of their articles will appear in Pulse soon! 4:40pm: The spirits in the media office are on a high as the girls figure out their song for kareoke. Complete with dance moves. Watch out KIJ. We mean business. 5:15pm: It's raining it's pouring but KIJ spirits are high. Those that were off site have just arrived back and dinner is on. 9:38pm: After coming 3rd in the explorers zone quiz, media head to the bar to blow everyone away with their fanstastic voices and energy. Sunday 2nd August 2009 9:44am: After boosting our reputation with our singing skills, (Reach [S Club 7] and Everybody Get Up [Five]) the media team are back to work on tomorrows pulse edition. The latest podcast has been uploaded. 11:25am: The suns out, and so's the Media Team, taking photos and collecting stories. (Except me, obviously.) 2:40pm: A few of the media team are off showing some V.I.P's around, but pulse is going pretty well =). Had a birthday cake for Emma, only one day late. Monday 3rd August 2009 8:55am: Morning again from the KIJ Media Team! It's lovely and sunny today so fingers crosssed for a chance to get that tan... 11:23am: It's not even afternoon yet and the Media Team have already had two buckets of water chucked all over them! 11:50am: Still drying out, and the media team have just been donated 18 bottles of apple juice from Environment! 4:53pm: More of a relaxing day, have plenty of items for the newspaper. Drinking from a 75cl bottle of apple juice. each. It's nice. 3:30am: Pulse is almost printed and ready for distribution! BBC South East visit tomorrow - look out for us on the news!!!! Tuesday 4th August 2009 10:55am: It has started to dawn on the team that we only have two days left NO!!! everyone is working hard and the BBC are still on site filming so watch out for that tonight. 1:45pm: Things are busy busy busy!! Finding pictures and such for the newspaper, so busy, time is just flying past!
4:47pm: About 150 scouts have just helped us soak the Kent County Commissioner. Thanks guys! We have fun =). 10.37pm: Pulse is being printed so many of us can now relax we are still in the office finishing a few things off though. We all have an early start tomorrow with filming to be done and troop photos to take. 10.52pm: Charlie just ended up in a pile on the floor, what have we told him about avoiding metal poles!! 11:12pm: KIJ has a very tired media team who need a good nights sleep!!! Wednesday 5th August 2009 9.32am: Most media team members are already up and in the office!! Getting ready to get more staff wet, all in the name of scouting (in a rough way).
12.37pm: The Swengdutch have uploaded their pictures onto their website! The language is in Dutch, but if you can't understand it all the pictures they have taken are on there too, as well as a couple of videos - take a look! it's good - http://gidsenkamp2009.blogspot.com/ Thursday 6th August 8:06am: Following many technical issues that occurred yesterday, which also caused the closure of the interent café, members of the media team were up until 3am this morning printing and editing Pulse! We're now up again delivering and printing more copies ready for the participants to take with them. At least it's not raining :)
